Along the Cheticamp River are a few cabins nestled in the wooded lots facing the Mountains of The Highland National Park and River. There are 12 lots with 7 having some sort of home or cabin. Originally fishing camp sites. most of the cottages began as rustic camps. We have added comforts of electricity, water, bathrooms, and Satelitte TV without giving up the original beginnings.
Each year we make upgrades with comfort in mind, both inside and out.
Cheticamp is an Acadien Village with a lot of charm and character. Lobster and Crab fishing is the major industry but there is a lot more than fish. Rug Hooking, Wood Turning, Painters, and other artist display their talents. There are numerous restaurants, a grocery store, a pharmacy, a medical clinic, churches, museums, hotels, banks, even a car wash.
The Highlands National Park Information Center just inside the park is a perfect place to stop and get info about the trails, flora and fauna, and other villages in Cape Breton. They have a wonderful and knowledgeable staff, a nice gift shop, and Free WiFi!
